Phoenix Theatre is proud to welcome Helen and Paul Topliss as our newest Life Members.
Nominated by Braydon Priest and seconded by Aimee Tribe, Helen and Paul are being recognised for their outstanding contribution to Phoenix Theatre since its founding in 1999. They have been involved in every single Phoenix Theatre production, and since the company came out of recess to stage its return production in 2024, their contribution has been especially significant. From stage managing and props to set construction and front of house, there is little they haven't turned their hand to.
Their dedication extends well beyond production weeks, too. Helen and Paul regularly give up their free time at the rehearsal hall, keeping it tidy and well maintained for everyone who uses it.
When Helen and Paul moved to Auckland from the UK in the 1970s, they found that community theatre was a wonderful way to build friendships in a new country. Decades later, Phoenix is fortunate to count them among its closest friends.
Congratulations, Helen and Paul. This recognition is thoroughly deserved.
